The market
Passive adaptive glazing sits at the intersection of three pressured markets.
Horticulture
Commercial greenhouse growers are losing crop value to summer overheating, and the standard mitigation, chalk shade paint, blocks a lot of light for an entire growing season.
Built environment
Cooling-energy regulation is tightening across the UK and EU, and most existing commercial glazing is either non-adaptive or expensive to retrofit with electrochromic or motorised systems.
Energy and mobility
Both PV and vehicle platforms lose performance to surface heating that is well-understood and currently under-addressed at the glass surface itself.

Why now
Cooling is the fastest-growing end-use of electricity globally. UK and EU regulation on commercial cooling load and embodied carbon is tightening on a defined timeline. And the installed base of commercial glass is enormous compared to the rate of new construction — meaning the most realistic path to scale is a material that applies to existing glazing.
